May 10: Provider Appreciation Day: Childcare Aware

Provider Appreciation Day, celebrated on the Friday before Mother's Day, was started in 1996 by a group of volunteers in New Jersey who saw the need to recognize the tireless efforts of providers who care for children of working parents. Support for this event has grown each year, and recognition presently includes:

  • Child Care Resource & Referral agencies.
  • Child care advocates.
  • Community-based organizations.
  • Government entities
  • Individuals throughout the United States

Child Care Aware of America convenes Provider Appreciation Day ® each year to amplify our nation's collective gratitude for those who support our youngest children's social, emotional, and physical care.

Celebrate Provider Appreciation Day 2024 by Saying #ThankYouChildCare

We invite you to show your gratitude for the child care workforce by recording a video as part of the #ThankYouChildCare campaign.

Some tips for recording a great video:

  1. Record a video of your own before asking others to do so.
  2.  Make your requests/invitations personal. Invite your board members, your family members or your coworkers.
  3. We provide helpful prompts, but you may be more comfortable writing your message before recording. With our platform, you can always re-record.
  4. Record your video in a well-lit area with few distractions.
